• BBC news: Train delay repay rule changes to make claims easier

If I've read this correctly the ticket purchasing phase is going to be
made harder. I recognise many of the Railcard fares I use but because
Why can't you select the railcard first so recognisable fares are displayed.

The discount button is placed very inconspicuously anyway, deliberately
    so I suspect.

It does look as if the guiding principles of Great British Railways
include making life harder for passengers in every possible way. There
have been rumours that delay repay will start with a 30 minute delay for
all companies, no doubt they can call that "levelling up".

I wouldn?t be surprised if Delay Repay slowly withered away. Was it even a thing in the days of BR?

I don't think that would be unreasonable. If you drive or take the
bus, you could easily be delayed by 15 minutes.

I wouldn?t be surprised if Delay Repay slowly withered away. Was it even a thing in the days of BR?

From what I recall, it was introduced by the Major government both to keep
the new private TOCs on their toes and to sell privatisation to the public. Those early TOCs had a lot of freedom, and it was feared that some might
    sweat their resources too hard.

Compensation only kicking in at 60 minutes, and then only 25% seems a
fairly common standard across many European railways. It wouldn?t surprise
me if GBR ended up with that eventually.

The EU rules for delay repay stat at 1 hour; i'd be surprised if they
    drop below that.

Introduced in 2007 at the behest of the DfT, and specified in new TOC
    contracts since then

RENFE used to have better repays.
