Brings back memories of the much more serious fire in 1984 in Summit
Tunnel (the other Yorskhire/Manchester Pennine tunnel).

I see that diverted trains via Summit are connecting with a
rail-replacement (bus?) service from Dewsbury to Huddersfield. I wonder
why Transpennine aren't running the normal Leeds-Huddersfield trains
using Leeds-Manchester paths which are truncated at Huddersfield.

Lots of water being sprayed there, though the article doesn?t say I wonder
if the FB had brought in a portable pump and were sourcing the water from
the adjoining canal tunnel via one of the joining adits . They were left
from the tunnels construction which used the canal tunnel to remove construction spoil.
