Now that we have the opportunity to change our callsigns, I'm thinking of taking it up. I have no wish to hide my history - as some have been criticised for. I was looking at "G8ABL" which is available and seems to run pretty much like M3ABL. I see that G8MAB is also available - my initials and it also seems to have a decent rythm. Has anyone else switched callsigns to something easier on the fist? Any suggestions for letter combinations that flow easily and are easy to receive? Someone I spoke to was recommending to avoid the trailing "B" because the final dot was likely to get lost making me G3MAD!

    Martin (G8FXC)

Hum? When was it allowed to change our callsign? Or is he probably
referring to swapping your M0 to G-something?

Do keep up at the back!

You could change it from when the phase 2 changes were introduced, Oct 2025.

And why are you quoting something from last December as Martin was G8FXC
    and is now G8MAB.

Yes, this has been all over the various news sources both from Ofcom
    and the RSGB.

You can of course also change a callsign to make sending Morse even
more difficult and slow, which I always think of when I see the short
contest calls in use. Shouldn't be allowed.

A long call contains more energy than a short call, so better in weak
signal conditions .It's also better for cross correlating against the
    brain data base.

There are certain sequences of letters I find difficult to send on a
paddle key, taking up your point .

You can also thwart the guys using software by using a straight key or semi-automatic and bending it a bit.
