    It went bankrupt because the price of polysilicon dropped 89% between
    2009 and mid-2011 as the Chinese improved the Siemens process.

    Solar cells clearly don't have to be flat, and anybody who thinks that
    this was ever any kind of rule has to be nuts.

    I don't think that anybody has ever made much money out of solar cells
    which weren't flat, but that's just practical experience rather than any
    kind of rule.

    I was criticising the specific proposition that there is any kind of
    rule that solar cells have to be flat, with a counter-example, so it was
    still a much more specific criticism than the one you posted.
