I know that both Babbages and EB Games pulled that stunt back in the
day, allowing people to return stuff and then just putting it back on
the shelf as "new". Then, of course, some of them started taking the
games out of the cases, storing them behind the counter and giving you
an unsealed package and still calling it "new". With GameStop, I
remember them even asking if they wanted you to have them re-wrap it. If
you did, they just ran to the back, did it and came back with the game
in shrinkwrap.
