I used to have Ghostbusters on the Genesis, but sold it long ago. With
the price of retro games skyrocketing in the US, I took a chance about a
year or so ago on the JP Mega Drive version of Ghostbusters, figuring I
know the game well enough to muddle through the menus, and it's an
action game so there's not a lot of Japanese you need to know.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the rom actually contains
both English and Japanese, and it selects the language based on the
region of your console!
So take that scalpers! Not that it's much consolation now since the JP version has started to creep up in price too. But hey it's great for me.
Also, there's a rom hack out there that adds Wintson as a playable
character, so when I play it on the RetroFreak instead of the Genesis, I
can apply that and enjoy the game even more!
This is one I'll probably never sell again (unless desperate times call
for it), as being an IP-licensed game, it's unlikely to ever see a
reprint.
Then again, LRG either just finished or within the next couple days will
be finishing up their preorders for a re-release of Jaws for the NES, so
I can't totally write off the possibility.
Also... WOOH - CROSSPOSTING TO DIFFERENT GROUPS! Crossposing to r.g.v.n because i briefly mentioned Jaws, so now the entire post is relevant
(internet logic)
Back in the late 90s/early 00's there'd be a line of people waiting to
flame you if you crossposted to the wrong group. Maybe the practical
death of usenet will keep that from happening. People still using it in
2026 would probably be happy just to see a post that isn't spam.
