From benstylus@3:633/10 to All on Saturday, January 17, 2026 09:12:16
As someone who remembers the old days of the newsgroups before it all
turned to spam, I just wanted to post that I discovered my old Astraweb account, and still had a ton of data that I purchased as a block back in
2008. So I thought I'd get back on here and take a walk through the nostalgia.

A lot of the posts from the late 90s are long gone from Astraweb, but
they do have stuff going back to 2003 which is still pretty good. I
found my SegaFans Weekly newsletters, which were a joy to read (and only
had a bit of a cringe at my writing style).

I'll probably be checking in here on weekends for the next few weeks in
case any of the other oldies from times of yore happen to still be out
there reading. I know reddit and social media have taken 99.9% of the
traffic from usenet, and it's probably mostly used for binaries at this
point, but rec.games.video.sega still exists, and I still like Sega
(more or less. Old Sega definitely, new Sega periodically).

I think the last time I posed was in 2010. Time does fly. And not
always in a good way. Like that egg timer in NiGHTS. It needs to go away.

(NO-SPAM is obviously not my email domain. You might try the Roman
version of Hera if you really need to email me. Or if that's too much,
you can look up one of my old usenet posts to get the real unfiltered
address. I still get lots of spam there on a daily basis. It's fab.
