In another thread I can't find, people were talking about vehicle doors
that cannot be opened with mechanical means. Best part of this vehicle
design is that, when locked, the handles are flush with the exterior.
The mother, who had just put the baby inside, found all the doors had
locked and battery failure meant the key fob couldn't work and OnStar
had no ability to open the vehicle.
A relative looked up on the Internet that there is one mechanical lock
on the rear hatch. They smashed a key fob to access the key, not
realizing that there's a release.
Now, I've figured out how to use the mechanical key in the key fob but
it's really not obvious, and this is one incredibly stupid system in
case of emergency like this. I don't think I've seen a vehicle with just
one mechanical lock instead of the usual two.
