New Family Guy Spin-off TV Show Gets 2-Season Order at Fox

A new Family Guy spin-off show is in the works.

Created by Seth MacFarlane, the popular animated sitcom Family
Guy originally premiered in 1999. Having so far run for 24
seasons, the show centers around the Griffins, a family that
includes the parents Peter and Lois, their children Meg, Chris,
and Stewie, and their anthropomorphic dog Brian. There has so
far been one spin-off series, The Cleveland Show, that ran
from 2009 to 2013.

What is the new Family Guy spin-off show?
Per Deadline, it has now been announced that Fox has given a
two-season order to Stewie, a new spin-off show focused on the
titular toddler child. It is expected to premiere during the
network's 2027-2028 season.

"In the offshoot, after getting the boot from his old preschool,
Stewie is forced to enroll in a new one that's not exactly
top-of-the-line," the article reads. "It's attended by a handful
of kids he doesn't know, and a 75-year-old class turtle with a
half-cocked theory on just about every subject. Stewie's
miserable, the other kids are miserable, and even the turtle is
miserable... until Stewie begins rolling out his trusty array of
devices to take them anywhere in space and time, turning every
boring day at school into an insane and surreal adventure."

Stewie comes from MacFarlane, Kirker Butler, and 20th Television
Animation. The episode count has not yet been revealed, though
the article notes that it may be "slightly less than the [Family
Guy] 15 episodes per season the legacy 20th Animation series are
producing under the current Fox deal."

McFarlane said in a statement, "I'd like to thank Fox for this
incredible opportunity, and I'm excited to start pretending I'm
collaborating closely with them on the show."

Butler added, "I am honored and humbled that Seth,
20th Television Animation and Fox have trusted me with one of
the most iconic animated characters in the history of television.
I have known Seth for more than two decades, worked with him on
half a dozen projects, and I am hopeful this is the one where he
finally learns my name."

Stewie is expected to feature references to Family Guy, as Brian
will likely make "appearances" in the new spin-off show. It will
not impact Stewie's ongoing role on Family Guy.
