I read Frakes' actual comments, and he doesn't really blast Star Trek
fans. He points out that the resistance to each Trek iteration has been higher. He's right. There were objections to ST:TNG and ST:DS9, but
nothing like the objections to more recent shows.

At some point there will be more people yelling at them to please stop
than actually watching the latest show.

That because there are fewer people who know how to make the shows
properly, and more idiots that want to shoehorn in their own ridiculous ill-fitting ideas.

As for Frakes, just bare in mind that he himself ruined the
"Thunderbirds" franchise*. He signed on to make the movie without even
knowing what it was, watched a couple of episodes and thought he knew
it all ... and the resulting mess of a movie proces he had absolutely
    no idea at all. X-(

    * Although he was alone. The later rather silly CGI animated series
    also added more ill-fitting silliness.

He's basically saying more people don't like each "new Trek" for

It's a growing movement. People want it to stop altogether. I guess the community still cares about the whole thing. The franchise was
epsteined so I don't care either way. My breaking point was STD. Picard
was unwatchable. I won't bother with the shit in production. The
    premise is sooooooooo fucking stupid.

Objections to TNG were very minimal. My evidence on it was the sudden
surge in convention attendance. It grew leaps and bounds during the TNG
era. Resistence to DS9 came from the fact that it wasn't based on a
ship. I have friends who still refuse to watch DS9 because none of them consider starfleet politics a compelling story basis. So, to them it's
    all preference.

Some complaints were also that is was simply a rip-off of "Babylon 5"
since both were based around a space station, but "Deep Space 9" has
far less political nonsense and is a MUCH MUCH MUCH better show. "Deep
Space 9" was okay, except for the silly religious Prophets mumbo-jumbo,
but it wasn't the best of the Trek shows of the pre-downfall shows (the downfall started with the ridiculous "Enterprise").

I was in the service during DS9's run so I didn't watch it until many
years later. Rather enjoyed it. It was fun to watch the actors
interpret characters who didn't really like or trust each other and
learn to work together in a cohesive unit. And, also, characters who
didn't want to be there to begin with. The acting on that show was
    really worthy.

Also, bonus the recurring female actors were eye candy.

ST:TNG might be my favorite overall. The first year was rough and the
last couple were a little silly, but the midrange was good IMO.

Did you watch Star Trek: Lower Decks? It's a comedy, but it does respect
the canon, and it's set shortly after Voyager's return.

Maybe that was another factor in its cancellation. The rumor is that
Alex Kurtzman cancelled ST:LD because he was frustrated that it had more viewers than STD, which he regarded as the serious show.

It was a reasonable time to cancel it, though. Five good years is long

and call us names. Jonathan Frakes and Robert Picardo are out
actively doing so and it's a media opp.
    https://youtu.be/uQgyPRVGEG8?si=FicsJmBdJqDSA3w5
I read Frakes' actual comments, and he doesn't really blast Star
    Trek
fans. He points out that the resistance to each Trek iteration has been >>>>>> higher. He's right. There were objections to ST:TNG and ST:DS9, but >>>>>> nothing like the objections to more recent shows.
At some point there will be more people yelling at them to
    please stop
than actually watching the latest show.
Hmm. I didn?t much care for V?ger, or Disco, or Pick A
    Card. Strange New
Worlds was ok, and Lower Decks, once past the first few episodes of the >>>>> first season, was excellent. Not as good as TNG or DS9, but far
better than Disco. I have actively avoided seeing any eps of
    Starfleet Academy.
I can now recommend Star Trek Continues, a fan production
    available on
YouTube. It's not like most fan productions. It matches the quality of >>>> ST:TOS, or at least the first few episodes do, and matches its style and >>>> tone as well.
If it's like The Doomsday Machine or The Enterprise Incident, no
    prob. If
    itƒ??s like Spockƒ??s Brain, Iƒ??ll pass.
I will give Lower Decks a shot this weekend. Only heard good things
about it from sources I respect.
Maybe, just maybe, it'll give a glimmer of hope that my beloved
    franchise isn't truly dead...
Unlike most trekkies, I also loved star wars. For me, that franchise
is much more deader-er than star trek.
    D

Like Star Trek, the Star Wars animated shows are often better than the live-action ones.

Indeed, for sure. Way better. But those series are in the can. Sure
we're getting yet more maul. We'll see if Filoni will stick with his
normal form or if the promotion got to his head.

    I hope...

Yeah, that's the one I meant. I think most viewers were taken aback.

Lower Decks is a better watch than Enterprise, IMO.

Difficult for it to be worse. "Enterprise" was pure drivel. :-p

Enterprise did improve after the first episode. I never really got into
it, but when I did watch it, it was usually watchable. Still, I just
    didn't get interested in it.

It might have had more of a chance if it had been *less* tied to ST:TOS. Enterprise was always trying to show the origin of what we'd seen on the classic show, and it might have benefited from being less prequel and
    more show.

I haven't watched "Lower Decks" yet, nor any other Star Trek shows
since "Enterprise" (which I binned after five minutes of the first
episode!). So many shows, so little time. :-(

Only five minutes? Then you didn't even get to the sensual
    decontamination massage.

Lower Decks is a better watch than Enterprise, IMO.

I was told the show is good and a final episode seemingly de-cannonized >> STD. Not sure if that was said to tempt me. I'm not opposed to watching >> it, just hasn't garnered enough interest.

    I didn't watch STD, so I don't know.

Maybe that was another factor in its cancellation. The rumor is that
Alex Kurtzman cancelled ST:LD because he was frustrated that it had
more viewers than STD, which he regarded as the serious show.

It was a reasonable time to cancel it, though. Five good years is long enough, and every show gets stale eventually. I just hope they keep
their promise to make another lighthearted show.

I don't know about light-hearted, but in terms of animated Star Trek,
there is "Star Trek: Prodigy" and "Star Trek: Scouts" (webseries aimed
at preschoolers), but I haven't seen those yet either.

I'm not sure it's happening. The end of ST:LD implies that there will be
new adventures around Starbase 80, and I'm all set for it, but nothing
seems to be happening. It was probably shelved.

I guess we can't have fun while there are messages to be preached.

The creator of "Star Trek: Lower Decks" is making a new adult animated sci-fi show called "Odd Jobs" for Amazon Prime. <https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/lower-decks-mike-mcmahan-odd-jobs-sci-fi>

That sounds potentially interesting, but it's not worth subscribing to
    Amazon Prime.

"Young Jedi Adventures" is quite good - even though aimed at
youngsters, it is still better than some of the live-action shows /
    movies!

There are also some more "Visions" animations coming some stage this year.

There was the "A Droid Story" animated series / film? announced by
Disney in 2020, but nothing more has been heard of it since then.

you mean the scene where it?s established that Vulcan females have points
on their anatomy other than their ears? That was pretty much where I bailed.

Pretty much the ONLY Trek sex scene I enjoyed was the one with Brent
Spiner and Denise Crosby which was more comedic than sexy.
