The new Harry Potter trend of redrawing Draco Malfoy as a
bratty anime girl has arrived. Here is where the trend
started, why the name stuck, and why some fans do not
    want to drop it.

    ***

Lately my social media feeds have been getting flooded
with art, stories and videos of fan art, stories and
videos of Draco Malfoy gender swapped as a girl.

She has the same white-blond hair. Same Slytherin robe.

Same voice bratty, asking Potter who let him think he was
    a top student.

And some people are calling her Malfoid. Here is what I
have learned about the trend so far.

Malfoid is fan art/fan fiction and not actually a real
character in the Harry Potter universe.

She is not in the books, not in the movies, and not in
    HBO's Harry Potter series.

She is merely a fan character from a trend of artists
who redrew Draco as a teenage girl, usually in an anime
style, and kept the part of him everyone already knows:
the sneer, bratty energy and insults towards Harry Potter.

This curmudgeon thinks that Mona Lisa is art and that fan art is crap.
When reading I either have MY OWN image of events or I just wallow in
the words. This is also another reason why I am hesitant to watch films supposedly based on books I love; supposedly as sometimes the only
connection is the title and characters' names.

    Here's one:

Actually I'm kinda liking the "Malfoid" thing. Possibly because:

    1) Ginny is such an insipid love interest.
    2) Enemies-to-lovers is a reliable trope.
    3) Malfoy did not get a good redemption arc in canon. Dumbledore
(already dying) implores Snape to kill him to spare Malfoy from
being a killer, and we don't really ever see Draco deal with that.

Thank you for your youtube link.

Meanwhile, Malfoy's on my mind. Ginny's mentioned near the end of this
"If the ending is already written, does it remain the same in every universe?**PartTwo**" video:

    [Potter] Ginny?

[Malfoy] What did you just call me?

    [Potter] Ginny?

    [Malfoy] Say again?

[Potter] Ginny? Is that ... you?

    <music then lyrics>

    Yeah, yeah, yeah

I want you to love me, love me, love me, love me

Oh baby, love me, love me, love me
