Dear rec.arts.sf.written,
rec.collecting.books,
alt.books.raymond-feist,
alt.usage.english,
I just restarted this book again, after presumably a decade or two. It
is nice, of course, and the somewhat naive biographical storytelling is
-- or will be -- somewhat refreshing. As I'm currently only on the
first few chapters, and Pug is still struggling with applications of
magic as a thirteen, or fourteen year old lad the biographical part has
not set in, yet; it's merely something that I remember from years ago,
and something I didn't really notice until I read about this book, or
rather books as Magician, Master is the second half, and realized in re- trospect, or possibly re-reading isn't as /polished/ as Raymond's later
books in the Riftwar saga.
I'm not sure if Raymond himself decided to write in more traditional
fantasy trilogies later on [1] or if it was his publisher who coached
him, but I personally like his later books so I don't much care.
Anyway, just something I thought to share; best wishes and happy
Riftwar!
[1] The entire Riftwar saga is told in a series of somewhat independent trilogies.
