    My home and vehicle insurer is Amica. They are a mutual and not allowed
    to make a profit. They used to write us dividend checks of their profit
    but that has gone by the wayside.

    As usual, Lynn generalizes without the facts. Many of the largest
    home insurance companies are mutual - they return any excess
    income to the policyholders or use them as a buffer for future
    claims.
