?Per the academic book ?Carbon Dioxide Capture for Storage in Deep
Geologic Formations,? CO2 is ?generally regarded as a safe and
non-toxic, inert gas. It is an essential part of the fundamental
biological processes of all living things. It does not cause cancer,
affect development or suppress the immune system in humans.??

?Natural processes emit about 770 billion metric tons of CO2 per year,
while human activities emit about 41 billion.?

Assuming those numbers are anywhere close to accurate, which is
unlikely given the source of your information,

The earth _was_ in equilibrium for most of human history (280ppm) with
respect to carbon emissions and absorption.

Adding a significant fraction of carbon output without a corresponding
increase in absorption clearly will lead to a larger CO2 fraction
in the atmosphere, with the corresponding effects on the
    radiation balance of the planet.

The current measurements are over 420ppm.
