    I read /Seven Days in May/ but I found the movie to be a lot more
    exciting. This probably has something to do with the quality of the
    acting.

    Of course, it's not actually an action thriller; considered as such,
    "damp squib" might be appropriate. In some ways, the film is an
    excellent adaptation because it moves the story (and the audience)
    along.

    But then, the same could be said of /Advise and Consent/. Particularly
    the film, which drops the final part and so the point of the novel.

    With all the chatter about the U.S. taking over Canada it
    should not be forgotten that Cecil Rhodes wanted America to be
    reunited into the British empire and Churchill in effect
    suggested the same thing in the "Iron Curtain" speech of
    1946.
