The horrifying series returns, this time with 60s Doctor
Who. In this video, I take a look at the black and white era
of Doctor Who, starring William Hartnell as the First Doctor
and Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor. The black and
white picture has a way of making the early seasons of
Doctor Who a little unsettling, especially for younger
viewers, as the show is considered a family show.
I think the most interesting thing about the first season or
two is that the Doctor starts off as more of an anti-hero than
a hero: cowardly and self-serving. Ian is the hero. But by the
time Patrick Troughton takes over, the character has become
pretty much the one we know today - though of course each
incarnation has their own quirks.
