There's a holiday special telling the story of "Olive,
the other reindeer." If I ever see it available, I'll
probably check it out to see if someone actually tackled

out to be essential. Just another example of those made-up scourges,
"liberal" and "woke" -- from 1939.

It's odd to emphasize the word "is" there, as if someone
had said otherwise.

Yes, it certainly does tell that tale, and apparently
Rudolph is happy because he's no longer being persecuted
for existing. Nobody ever corrects the others for
bullying him. Rudolph is expected to be happy that
they've stopped persecuting him and to forget that they
ever did. They harassed him until they suddenly needed
him, and there's not even a token apology for the past.

I find it a dubious lesson. Real life doesn't work that
way.

But your point is well-taken: this /does/ reflect an older
generation's point of view on things.

In particular, on how adults (well, men at least) behave. From this
viewpoint, accepting and enjoying the new situation is what you do.
Trying to wreak revenge is something cads do.

That's kind of my point. Children reflect their parents'
beliefs. When we speak of MAGA children, or Labour
children, or Jewish children, or whatever, we really mean
the children of parents with those traits.

The point was how they would behave -- that is, who they would side
