"Window washers", were they? I'll tell you what they are, they are intimidating thugs who swarm into a group of cars stopped at a
stoplight, give a quick squeegie-wipe to windscreens of motorists who
do not want it, and then demand payment from those motorists. But
this motorist told them to eff off and not touch his car. This thug
replied by calling the motorist an asshole, and maybe scratching the
car door with his tool blade. This confrontation was caused entirely
by these thugs intimidating law-abiding motorists.
So this motorist didn't take this intimidation (and possibly car
damage), he got out of his car and slashed the two thugs with a knife.
While I don't condone that, I definitely don't condone the outcome
which is that the police arrested the motorist and not the
intimidating thugs. Actually, the police should be preventing the
unlawful activity of those thugs at stoplight-controlled
intersections.
This event was ultimately caused by police failure to enforce the law
and protect law-abiding citizens. Eventually, those citizens are
forced to act themselves to fill in the gap left by police
dereliction. But this essential aspect is completely missing from the
media reporting. You can't hate the media enough.
