Campbell isn't a journalist, he is so biased that he should be employed by one of the left wing parties. At least then he could be seen as being honest.
    Karl du Fresne gets it.

The sooner it goes the better. With Tova then Jessica going to One
Maori News they are both dead in the water. .

Du Fresne harks back to a mythical time of unbiased political
commentary. That time never happened, all that was required was that
an opinion could be expressed with for-and-against argument included.

The reality is that every journalist is biased - by the choices they
make in any election or in the side they find in favour of on any
political issue. They are the same as you and me. What has changed
is that in days gone by they were required to disguise their
viewpoints either for or against in an issue under discussion, and
they were required to document viewpoints they disagreed with. Today
they are no longer required to do either.

RNZ have chosen a personality presenter and while I almost always
oppose what Campbell says, the best of entertainment is served by
having other hosts with the same views as me - opposed to Campbell.
Prolonged adversarial debate (within the bounds of mutual respect) is
usually far more illuminating than 'balanced commentary' from a single
    source.

I am not sue we can agree entirely. I did not assume that du Fresne was himself unbiased (he has always said that he favours left wing politics) but he
and others of his generation did indeed provide some balance.
    That was my point.
