$150,000 spent to set up the hotline to report supposedly gratuitous
use of road cones; it ended up fielding a total of 800 calls over the
six months in was in operation, which resulted in the removal of just
200 cones <https://www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360915577/governments-road-cone-hotline-close>.
So that was over $180 spent per call, or a cost of $750 for removing
each ?unnecessary? cone.
It would have been cheaper to leave those cones in place.

It was always going to be just another example of government stupidity
and money-wasting idiocy. :-\
