When gnus hangs, can you use "C-g" to cancel the hanging operation? If
so, you can get a backtrace of the hanging function for debugging: You
can enable debug-on-quit by "M-x toggle-debug-on-quit", wait for the
next hang, press "C-g", and you'll get a backtrace in another buffer to
see what is the last function that is hanging. You can paste the content
of that buffer here to help debugging.

Total shot in the dark but since you're reporting that this issue is
only present with newer kernels my first instinct here would be to try
to recompile all bytecode with package-recompile-all and see if anything changes.

It is not related to your problem but some services do not like names not ending with a correct tld. So you should use something like
mail.kjonca.net instead of mail.kjonca.

I keep thinking it's probably something in the networking code. I'm
reminded of TCP Window Scaling, which caused a bunch of problems when
it was newly introduced. Devices which were not properly configured
sometimes could not communicate properly with Linux systems that had
TCP Window Scaling enabled. (This was not a bug in Linux. It was a
common bug or misconfiguration in other systems.)

What kind of device is 192.168.200.200? Is it running Linux, or something else?

Yes it could also be a security patch enforcing a new control which
fails. It could be apparmor denying access, etc. This is why I suggest to
look in the system logs. Looking in inn2 logs and dovecot logs could be
useful too.

But, as I said: this happens after some time. When I have fresh
connection gnus-> inn2 it works.

Well. I will stick with kernel 6.12.x for now. And I hope, that this
kernel issue (because only the only difference is kernel) will hit
someone else more deterministic way. :(
