• Re: Where does Trixie put CUPS files

Thanks.˙ The log file gave me a clue with read failures for: /usr/local/Brother/Printer/MFC7360N/inf/brMFC7360Nrc
which was set 600 lp lp but˙ needs˙ 660 lp lp.˙ That change enabled ASCII and Postscript printing.
I'm currently USB connected while I'd prefer to use ethernet.˙ But at least I can print.˙ The print file name has changed to root@debian-13+<job #> which makes sense for a directly connected printer.
This is where an O'Reilly book on CUPS would be helpful.˙ I'm trying to setup a spare machine to give to a friend as I shrink my network of test machines in favor of VMs.
I have a python script on the system I upgraded from 10 to 12 for configuring the printer under "Administration"˙ but can find no similar tool on 13.˙ How do I install it?˙ The machine that it's on was a throw away test system that got pressed into use full time for a while.
    Thanks again,Reg

Mine have always been in /var/spool/cups/, but I use driverless
printing. As I see /var/spool/lpd/MFC7360N in your list, they might
be there too. Your search string is not very good: c for Control,
d for Data, I assume. You likely won't need the grep.

I have Brother lasers working on two trixie machines. Both were
installed by getting the Brother .deb install scripts for the printers
and installing it to the trixie computers. Worked right off.

    I have a Brother HL-L2350DW.

Driverless. Just works out of the box. I thought that was the thing now
    with modern printers.
