• Unresponsive windows under Wayland

    From Miguel A. Vallejo@3:633/10 to All on Monday, January 12, 2026 01:50:01
    Hello.
Since I upgraded to Debian Trixie I noticed some programs become
unresponsive under Wayland. For example Google Chrome.
It works fine but after a few minutes the window becomes unresponsive: I
can't click on any tab, I can't select text to paste on another window, but
I can click on links and browse the web.
If I put the mouse cursor over the tabs, I can change tabs using the mouse wheel, but not by clicking over them. Interestingly, if I move or resize
the window, everything works fine again... for a few minutes.
I also noticed this behaviour with Telegram Desktop, where selecting text
with the mouse suddenly does not work until I move or resize the window...
    but also for some minutes.
I have been looking for known bugs but I have not found anything, neither
in Debian or other LInux distributions.
I can confirm it in two different computers, i5-6500 with integrated HD Graphics 530 and Ryzen 7 5700G with integrated Radeon Vega 8, both running Debian Trixie 13.0, 13.1, 13.2 and now 13.3
It occurs in Wayland, not in X11.
    Does anyone else noticed this?
    Thanks in advance.

The subject says it all.? How do I find the .desktop file that is
associated with a particular launcher icon on a mate panel?
I have been googling since yesterday and I have not found an answer.? I
have been told that the files are in:
    # *System-wide apps:* |/usr/share/applications/|
    # *User-installed apps:* |~/.local/share/applications/|
    |
    |
and there certainly are .desktop files in these locations.? The first
has quite a few such files, a few of which are for programs that I have launchers for.? Most are not.? The second has only a few files, none of
which match up with launchers on the panel in question.
I also have .desktop files in ~/.config/mate/panel2.d/default/launchers,
which would appear to match the launchers on the panel, except that two
of them are missing (these are available in /usr/share/applications/.?
So, some are in /usr/share/applications/, some are in ~/.local/share/applications/, and some are in both.? How do I determine
which file a launcher icon is actually attached to?
    Marc

I am not a mate user, so I am unsure what specifically you have found at
this location. In general, for .desktop files search path see <https://specifications.freedesktop.org/basedir/latest/>
    XDG_DATA_HOME and XDG_DATA_DIRS
