container and then pip install freely in there. My experience is that
each piece of research code will have its own quirky requirements, and
you'll appreciate having something isolated from your own system upgrades. It's nice to be able to come back to your research environment years later and not find everything broken from updates. I also feel a lot less
concern over accidentally dangerous research software.
I would also recommend this for any generic research task.
