"Star Wars: First Assault", a Star Wars multiplayer FPS, was cancelled
in 2013 following Disney's acquisition of the franchise. It apparently
got the axe mere months before it was supposed to be release
(literally 24 hours before the public beta test was supposed to
start). But apparently the code has been salvaged and, with a little
hocus pocus hackery, it can actually be played.*
Now, this game was designed around the console first, and the hacked
version requires a gamepad, and an emulator, and it's multiplayer only
/and/ it really doesn't do much that the 2016 "Battlefront" didn't...
but as a fan of the classic movies and games, I'm happy to see this
game wasn't entirely lost to history.
It's not yet publically available but videos are trickling out of
people playing it. Hopefully Disney won't have a conniption and give
the project its blessing (or at least allow people their fun). Can't
stop the signal!
