• Anyone tried Pardus recently?

    Hey everyone,

I've been looking into Pardus lately and realized some folks here might
only remember its old "PISI" days. For those who don't know, modern
Pardus moved to a Debian-based system a while ago, and it's actually a
    pretty solid daily driver now.

It's developed by the TUBITAK ULAKBIM team in Turkey. Essentially, it
takes the rock-solid stability of Debian Stable and adds some nice quality-of-life tools (like their own "Pardus Welcome" and Java
managers) that make the post-install setup a bit smoother than a raw
    Debian netinstall.

It defaults to XFCE, so it's quite snappy on older hardware, but they
have a GNOME version too. If you're familiar with apt, you already know
how to use it. No steep learning curve there.

If you're tired of distro-hopping and want something predictable but
slightly different from the usual "big name" distros, it's worth a look
    at pardus.org.tr.

If anyone is interested, let me know and I can drop some installation
links, getting started guides, or mirrors.

Anyone else here using it as a server or desktop? Curious to hear if
you've run into any major quirks compared to vanilla Debian.

    Cheers.
