    I'm sure anyone with even a *basic* level of understanding would
    appreciate how difficult it would be to pick out something the size of a family sedan with any clarity from a distance of 384 *thousand* km's away.

    If you want to get an idea, then try looking at Google Earth. The
    satellites Google uses to compile the Earth images operate in the
    400-600km altitude range, and while they can be capable of high
    resolution imagery it's remains quite basic. I'm sure secret military equipment can do a better job from a lower altitude, but it still
    remains a relatively short distance.

    The moon is close to 650 times further away than that, and while we have
    very powerful telescopes on this planet that can see things millions of
    km's away, they can't see infinitely small detail up close.
