Anyone else finding a problem trying to download the latest curl and
sed? The Update Manager progress bar stops after a few kB have downloaded.

What mirror are you using ?

I use a local university that happens to be a mirror.

    https://arstechnica.com/security/2026/05/ubuntu-infrastructure-has-been-down-for-more-than-a-day/

It's possible the main LM server is somehow related to Canonical,
and the main-everything is likely down.

But if you switch to a carefully-chosen mirror, you can
pick up where you left off.

Why not switch your mirror and see what happens. I can do that
graphically by using my update manager section official repo/s and
clicking on the selection in the Main or Base and let it run a speed
    test and give me options.

It took a lot longer than I've ever seen, but it did go through. Maybe 2 minutes.

Finally got sed to download (curl came through an hour ago).

I use a UK mirror all the time which has been fine, but changing to the default and a mirror in Belgium made no difference. There were a lot of
"APT install failed" entries in the log.

I've no idea what was going on as updating is usually very reliable and
    fast.

Well at least we can all say that it's not just a 'me' issue.

Just a note that each mirror is just a regular HTTP server. So you can
point your web browser at it and try manually downloading the .deb
file, just to confirm that works.

The status page at Ubuntu, says that a number of their servers are re-connected. But secure.ubuntu.com is still a problem, and even if
you use mirrors for the two repository links, it still seems to make
    references to secure.ubuntu.com .

I was attempting to do a LM223 install, and I set the mirrors,
the install did finish, but it was quite quite slow in sections.
And the installation did boot, about five minutes ago, so it appears
    to be intact.

Same here, the process got stuck here:

... but after about 7 minutes it went through.

Other sites weren't affected. I could view YouTube videos and other
    sites without problem.
