  • Strange SIM card status message in KaiOS: "Locked SIM"?

    Still using an old Nokia 2720 Fold phone, running KaiOS.
    I read that KaiOS was based on Mozilla FireOS.

    I noticed that one of the SIM card momentarily was
    labelled "Locked SIM", before the label changed to
    the name of the mobile network operator.

    Could a cell phone know whether a SIM card was
    locked? I supposed the operator would only
    deny a suspicious SIM card of services.

    The Nokia phone doesn't support e-SIM as far
    as I know. It's a really out-dated cellphone.

    understand. ISPs use this.

    There are "e-SIM cards" that add eSIM functionality to the phone. Read comp.mobile.android group.

    Aren't ALL SIM cards 'e' .... so therefore all "e-SIM" cards??

    e-SIM are not cards, they are files.


    Seems to me if phones have two SIM cards in them, one should be for
    Phone functionality (with room for increased functionality, maybe, and
    the second be for MY Functionality (Phone numbers, SMS, Photo's, etc.(My STUFF))

    No. One card is for the first ISP, the second is for the second ISP.
    Like, one for your personal phone number, and the second for the work
    phone number. Or for a number at your travel destination .

    You are talking of memory cards.
