• Leicester Station update

I see that I misposted this the other day:
They demolished the LMS office block but couldn't get a contractor to
do the rest of the work for the funds available. https://news.leicester.gov.uk/news-articles/2026/july/budget-boost-to-get-railway-station-revamp-back-on-track/

The whole thing has been a sorry saga. The council insisted on getting on
with the demolition because they claimed they would lose funding if they didn?t. Then they discovered that no contractor wanted the job. Sort of
thing you might check first? Bit by bit the council has changed the local
road layout to make pickup and drop off by car ever more difficult. It?s
not an easy station to use.

Probably the local council would like you to walk, wheel, or cycle to the station, but preferably for you to not travel at all.

They like stealing lanes from roads for busses and bikes, the funds for
the station refurb have been diverted from re-working a busy city centre junction ...

I haven't been there recently, but I used to leave by bicycle every
morning and arrive by bicycle again every evening. Their road, car
park, and traffic light changes made this increasingly difficult over
the years. So I agree with Spike that it seems that the Council really
don't want you to reach the station at all.
