I was hoping somebody would do a battery conversion - 400V / 800V EV batteries are now available for cheap on the salvage market. I don't recognise the type of packs they're using - the 'Danger 100V DC' is rather odd as even budget cars like the Dacia Spring use 260V packs.

Some further information from the team involved:
Four banks in each DM, those in the A car were in series and purely fed the compressor. Those in the B car in parallel and fed the traction motors in that car only.
We were monitoring them throughout, the one thing we weren't monitoring was the aux battery, which is what went flat first and called an end to things!
[ie the battery already installed on the train, which feeds lights and control power etc. It's fed from the Motor-Alternator set which they didn't have powered up during this test]
Ni-Cd at the moment. Currently registering as a charity, once done
hopefully we can get some grants for a full lithium conversion.
Now we have proof of concept, we need to do the design work to have the batteries mounted under the trailer.
