Not just the mystery corkage fees, but they emailed today to say Network still have a drought-induced ban on all steam haulage, and also can't provide a path for the final third of the itinerary.
So I now have people at the original destination, I'd organised to meet
for lunch, and won't now be there.
Most disappointing trip, ever.
I think I might have to investigate if I can bail out, and keep the
payment as a credit against a future tour next year. But I have a
feeling that their T&C say only they can do that, should the trip be cancelled.
When we still had an Office of Fair Trading, that lack of reciprocity
would probably be an "Unfair contract term".
But I did pay by credit card. Hmm...

Does Consumer Rights legislation apply ? If so, the tour differs from what was advertised at the time you paid, and the law should override any T&C - entitling you to a full refund.... Might be worth examining....

I've emailed them to see what they say. If they don't take up my offer
to cancel in return for a credit note for a future tour, not only will
I consider litigation, but it would be the last trip I ever book with
them.
I don't need the cash-back, but the tour has been watered down so far I >would never have booked it in the first place.

My friend has just returned from a 'Rhine' cruise that was rerouted to
the Moselle due to the drought. Should she claim the trip was 'watered
down' :-)

Moselle is œ10 a bottle extra.

IMO Delay-Repay is a bit of a farce. I tried to claim compensation
from Greater Anglia for a ticket I purchased via their website to
March. On the return journey cows on the line delayed and caused a >re-routing of the journey. Fair enough these things happen, but how did
the cows end up there?
My claim against Greater Anglia was rejected as the delay happened in
the East Midlands railway region.
I had to create an East Midlands account in order to be repaid eventually.
