    Man dies after train hits van on crossing

    A man has died after a train hit a van on a railway line.

    The incident happened on a crossing in Burscough, West Lancashire, just
    after 15:00 BST.

    British Transport Police (BTP) said a man who was in the van died at the scene, and two passengers on the Wigan Wallgate-Southport train suffered
    minor injuries.

    Fears over 'high risk' crossing after train crash death

    An investigation is continuing into how a delivery vehicle and a train collided on a crossing, killing a van driver.

    Fears over 'high risk' crossing after train crash death

    "A train from Southport to Manchester collided with what is
    understood to be a supermarket delivery vehicle.

    People living in the area have told the BBC that it was not
    uncommon for the gate on the crossing to be left open at times
    by people using it."

    To be fair, supermarket delivery drivers are much less likely to be self-entitled scoff-laws than the typical Evri/Amazon delivery driver.
    Apart from anything else, the van will be a valuable asset belonging to
    their employer, not a rent-a-wreck with no MOT, insurance or tax, and
    the driver without a licence.
