    Same thing happened on the New York City Subway. The vast majority of
    trains had half-width cabs, though they were either converted to
    full-width or newer rolling stock was same.

    Some of them have a window into the cab, though they are either very
    small or have a film over them that completely fragments the forward
    view.

    I suspect in both cases the drivers unions pushed for more room for the drivers.
