Ahem. *Second* most scenic railway in the world. The winner
    is in Japan.

Well, the scenery is interesting, in a "let's go see James Herriot's
Yorkshire Dales" way. For us, the Ribblehead Viaduct is certainly its
    top draw.

Defining most scenic varies with the eyes of the seer... 'tweach his own.

Zig-zagging over the Andes out of Lima takes some beating, both view-
    and engineering-wise.

I've taken that trip long ago and agree.

But I'd also say the Rocky Mountaneer is highly competitive in the scenery sweepstakes.

Agreed, along with other sharp-hill locales (Aotearoa-NZ, Switzerland et
al) but having lived in Brit Columbia for over 50 years, one gets a
little blas‚ at the sight of trees and mountains and forests and
rivers... and did I mention more trees... while staring at Grouse
Mountain and the Lions daily (if it isn't raining). <g>
