My home server is based on a Lenovo TS140 motherboard with an Intel Xeon E3-1226, 32 GB RAM and re-cased into a Silverstone case.

When I rebuilt it yesterday the BIOS complained it couldn't find the boot drive a couple of times so I changed to a different SSD and installed to
that. I still get the same problem occasionally, all the tests Windows can
do on the drive say it's OK, no problems.

It SEEMS unlikely it is the SSD in the circumstances so I am going to try:

Cable
Different SATA port (I think it can boot to any of them)

Anything else i should add to the list?

The Silverstone case has a wired backplane and the drives slide in and out
on carriers so I should probably look at that.

Suggestions welcome, it's a good board for a server although the Lenovo
case wasn't!

dark mode so useless to me. Can it be switched to normal mode anybody know?

Apparently not, Samsung is now offering unusable software.

I have an identical mobo in a Corsair case so I installed Windows 10 on it
and it absolutely flies so I clearly do have a problem with yesterday's re-build.

What I discovered during the install is that it needs to re-boot to the installer iso (on Ventoy) presumably to get some additional files. I
suspect that yesterday I pulled the Ventoy before this happened and
Windows carried on valiantly but it just isn't a good install.

I don't know if anybody here has experience of the Corsair Carbide-100R
case, I have three and like them, quiet with good airflow. However, they
have brittle plastic feet and today's case is the last where I haven't
changed them for rubber door stops. As I put the case on the table there
was a cracking noise and bits of plastic flying everywhere as one of the
feet exploded. I had 4 x door stops (I bough enough for all three cases)
and replacing the feet took longer than setting the machine up. Anyway tomorrow I'll swap the drives etc. to today's build then finding out why yesterday's build is so poor can be a project.
