I was having Internet issues, speed down to 10 Mb/s from 33 Mb/s so I
treated myself to a TP-Link DR3650v-4G to try out 4G Internet. It gave me
30 Mb/s to 50 Mb/s which is a useful speed.
However, when my laptop wakes from sleep it now doesn't recognise the
network and I have to re-connect to WiFi and poke and prod Windows File sharing to get some life from it.
The WiFi h/w is an Intel WiFi AX201 160 MHz and its sleep options are
hidden on the advanced tab in that long list of meaningless abbreviations
in 2 point typeface.
It didn't happen with Plusnet's modem but TP-Link say there is nothing in their hardware that would cause it to sleep.
Anybody else seen anything like this? I am on Windows 10 and despite
MSFT's promise not to issue updates they still seem to and I wonder if
this is a new driver or eco-madness?
For info after 90 minutes on the phone to Plusnet they agreed to send an
OR engineer. He came in, dropped the top off the OR box, connected his equipment and said "there is a line break within 66 metres I'll go and
look, hope I don't need to dig". About 45 minutes later he was back and my speed is 33 Mb/s again. Still have the sleep issue though.
