Well Sinner is a native there and his coethnics live there whereas zverev is imported.
One is imposed, forced civic identity on entire group the other is well, exactly your point.
Kinda like Navajos being American vs your folks. One group didn't get to choose.

Diverting a bit, did you see Lendl as Slavic or Germanic?
Lendl is kinda selfish and individualistic type to the fullest so I reckon you might think we should see him as more Germanic, but I would not say that.
Germans are kinda communal as well. At least they were. People can change more easily, while changing the whole community and their mentality is harder and longer.
Czechs are very much Germanic, same way East Germans or Austrians are quite Slavic, it's pretty much similar in terms of DNA.
The major difference being language. Hitler considered them fit for full aryanisation, only wanted to force German language on them so that they could be incorporated.
Funnily, since he was good with Mussolini he was willing to accept Sinner folks and their region staying in Italy? He was screaming to get all lost German territories back and acquire new ones that are populated by Germans but didn't touch Sinner.
The Tyrol was part of Austrian empire, populated by Germans, and after ww1 Tyrol was split, north stayed in Austria and South Tyrol was given to italy.
Hitler never pushed that.
He only added South Tyrol to Germany after Italy capitulated in 1943.

To me, this is a good discussion.
The map reminds me that I had worked with a guy, nominally Romanian, but
who was much more blond and tall/large than any of the other Romanians
I've dealt with here on the west coast of the US. A surprising amount
are here, really.
They've been of two types: a darker, shorter group who look a bit like Spaniards, and then the outlier, like this guy I was mentioning. His
accent was German, even to my ear. He told me that there's a large "communal" population of Germans in Romanian that have been there
centuries, as I recall it. They speak German mostly and it's easy to see
the difference.
Hah! Here's a generalization for ya: Romanian women are
disproportionately knock-outs--really pretty.
