  • Luciano Darderi to the Rome ATP1000 semifinals

    Hello!

    Holy fucking hell, what a match between Luciano
    Darderi and Rafa Jodar. The third set went 6-0
    to Darderi yet the match lasted well over three
    hours in total!

    I know they both made a huge amount of unforced
    errors but I also saw a staggering amount of hard
    hitting and many extremely long baseline
    exchanges. The conditions were very slow so
    that made it harder to hit winners tonight.

    This match was extremely entertaining. I just
    wish the third set would have been tighter.

    Very promising. Good forehand, okay backhand. I suppose his
    worst shot is his serve as I did not observe him serving that
    fast during the whole match.

    Mentally, he is a tough fighter. He lost two matchpoints
    in the second set, but was able to regroup in the third.

    Could be a permanent Top 20 player, maybe even a short
    visit to Top 10 is possible.

    Italy has lots of good players on the tour now!

    I would like to add that Ruud vs Darderi semifinal
    could go either way. Darderi definitely has a
    chance if he can play his best tennis, but
    clay is Ruud's strongest surface so we will have
    to wait and see.

    I am eagerly awaiting for Landaluce vs Medvedev, too.
    Medvedev has to be the statistical favourite to
    win because of his vast experience. Landaluce
    entered the draw as a lucky loser and has
    nothing to lose at this point. Hoping for a good
    fight tonight!
