You're welcome, Bruce. ;) Hospital food does not have to be bad. I
worked with a man (this is not a punch line) whose parents went to the hospital cafeteria for dinner once a week because the food was very
good. It was inexpensive, healthy options (salads, broiled fish, maybe
some pasta) for about $16. You did not have to be a patient or be
related to anyone working in the hospital to eat in the cafeteria. I
found that very odd but apparently anyone can eat in a hospital
cafeteria if they have cash.
A long time ago when I was in the hospital for a surgical procedure, I
had not eaten in 24 hours. The doctor who admitted me said I could have something to eat. No one brought me anything to eat. I was so hungry I
was crying. A nurse came in and asked why are you crying? Because I'm hungry! She said "Good lord, didn't they bring you some breakfast?"
No... she checked the chart... why didn't ya'll serve this girl some breakfast? They brought in scrambled eggs with cheese and thick cut
bacon and fried potatoes and buttered toast. I cleaned that plate!
When the nurse came back she said to me "You weren't kidding you were
hungry!" No, I was not kidding.
