Kieth Richards used to play a lucite Ampeg - had to be heavy, but he
also was in pretty decent shape. Slide-in pickup changes - very cool.

As he is reported to own more than 3000 guitars, I would be more
surprised if he hadnt played one at some point

    Heh...Ronnie wood?

    Iconic Players -

Keith Richards: Famously championed the see-through
guitar during the Rolling Stones' 1969 transatlantic tour and
    subsequent early '70s performances.

Ronnie Wood: Embraced the acrylic instrument during his time with the
Faces and later with the Stones.

Joe Perry: Used the heavy Plexiglas guitar during the 1970s with
    Aerosmith.

Dave Grohl: Adopted the clear instrument for modern
    alternative rock stages.

Lou Reed: Played the instrument during his Velvet Underground era.

    John Frusciante: Counted among later
notable adopters of the rare acrylic build.

I'm not saying the Stones were bad. I'm saying that there's still good
music being made to this day. It's just harder to stay up to date
because the charts are full of crap. Taylor Swift, for instance, is
    candy for girlies.

Those Avett Brothers, based on that one song, are a bit hickish for my
taste, but I don't hate it.

Just because we're getting old and are out of the loop, doesn't mean
all current music is bad. There are alternative radio channels on the
Internet. I'd listen to them a lot if I was working on my own.

I have drink mix for cucumber agua fresca. I'll have to make
    the real stuff soon.

And watermelon agua is awesome too, especially with kiwi fruit
    added.

All you need to make this recipe is fresh watermelon, kiwi,
mint, and lime. The sweeter the watermelon and kiwi, the better because that means you don't need to add sugar to the actual
    drink.

Somen is a hot weather food too. It's served on ice. I just
pour the cold dashi broth on the noodles instead of dipping.
Wasabi is served on the side. I love that stuff. Sometimes
I'll cook soba noodles instead. It's made with buckwheat and
is brown in color. It's served the same way - it's all good.

That's a darker wasabi than I'm used to seeing, almost Guacamole green.

    That's S&B wasabi in a tube.

    TY.

It looks kind of weird but I don't mind
since it's pretty potent stuff. I've had real wasabi in the tube
but I prefer S&B because The real stuff is mild in comparison.

I make mine from their powdered mix:

When I was growing up, we didn't have any wasabi. No problem, we uesd Chinese hot mustard instead. We used Colman's Mustard. Somehow it
turned Chinese when we made it.

Wow, that's a trick I used too - cold water and a small dash of rice
    wine vinegar made it best.

We didn't see any wasabi until the
70's - when Japanese style sushi came to Hawaii. After mixing up the mustard powder with water to make a paste, my dad told me to turn the container upside down and let it sit for a short while. I guess
that's the part that makes it Chinese.

    Why not?

I still eat hot mustard with saimin. You have to eat saimin with hot mustard mixed with shoyu. You also eat the mustard/shoyu with Chinese
food. For sashimi and sushi we use wasabi. Eating raw fish local
style, we use mustard If we eat raw fish Japanese style, it's wasabi.
    Life is beautiful.

I make pork, chile and cheese friend wontons and those rock.
