I read that if you're using a non-stick pan and have a birdie in a
cage, don't put the cage too close to the pan or the bird may die. Of
course, any RFC'er worth their salt would just put the dead bird in
the non-stick pan.

Gotta pick and gut 'em first. That's a pain in the ass. Not enough meat
on a parakeet. A full sized parrot is iffy.
But! You can breast 'em. That's a dove and quail trick. You learn so
much from me.
The French used to catch and eat ortolans, birds that are smaller than
most parakeets. They didn't kill them using non-stick pans, though.

Aren't you supposed to hide yourself in shame and orgasmic pleasure when
you eat them? I remember that from somewhere. Probably wrong.

That was the advice years and years ago, but supposedly whatever it was
that was putting off harmful fumes was removed from the manufacture of
these pans.

They never ate live birds. Eating cooked ortolans is also a thing from
the past.

I've been using Korean made, thick cast aluminum, Maifan coated, pans
for years. I love the pans but they're not well known in the US.

On your recommendation I am using roughly the same wok and it is the
best nonstick wok ever - and my prior T-Fal was the best back in its
day.

The weird part is that I used to avoid aluminum non-stick pans
because they'd warp and the coatings weren't durable enough because
my high heat cooking would ruin the pans. Things have certainly
changed. OTOH, change is good.
