in diners and dairy bars but I can't remember the last time I saw
them in the menu.
I was never impressed with floats as they were pretty much all made
with a Coke and they tasted rather flat. Then I had one made with
root beer which the taste is definitely not flat. I've been a
convert for decades.

Yeah, it's in the same class as cilantro; you either love it or hate it.The wintergreen flavour/smell was used in embrocation in the UK
For some it has a medicinal taste but admit the diet version is not good
when made into a float.

was raised in. Fountain drinks were a nickel and a large fountain
drink was a dime. One scoop of ice cream in a cone was a nickel as

I would agree that the Coke floats were not great. Root beer was much better. Coke was not my favourite when I was a kid. My friend's father
was a VP at Canada Dry and they always had a huge supply of pop in the house. There were weekly deliveries direct from the bottle plant. In
those days Canada Dry had a wide range of products. They had their
famous Gingerale, a wonderful ginger beer, cola, orange, grape, lime, grapefruit, rootbeer, lemon lime, lime, cream soda and the children's favourites, tonic water and soda water.
