South Park Officially Changes TV Show's Title for Season 29
to Troll Donald Trump

The creators of South Park have decided to officially change the
name of the sitcom series for Season 29. According to the update,
the name change is intended to mock the United States President,
Donald Trump.
In a recent update, creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker have
confirmed a name change for their sitcom. The Emmy-winning show
will now be called South America. The creators shared a statement
that read, per Variety, "Inspired by the bravery and patriotism
of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of 'South Park' to
'South America.' We especially want to thank our parent company
Paramount - a Skydance Capitulation."
The series has also debuted brand-new promotional content for its
upcoming season. In the released artworks, the word "America"
appears to replace "Park" in the show's logo. South Park has been
actively taking digs at the U.S. President and the administration.
It also won the Creative Arts Emmy Awards in the Outstanding
Animated Program category for a season centered around mocking the
POTUS.
The Donald Trump-inspired joke behind the South America rebrand
The rebrand of the TV show's title draws inspiration from a joke
about Donald Trump repeatedly trying to rename major geographical
places. The 80-year-old adds "America" to the names of various
locations.
Variety reported that Trump most recently said that his
administration would call Lake Ontario "Lake America." Such a
stance from the administration was reportedly connected to a trade
dispute between the U.S. and Canada.
Previously, POTUS renamed the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.
After the Gulf of Mexico received its new designation, Google and
Apple updated it in their map applications. Additionally, Trump has
posted a video suggesting that New Mexico might be referred to as
New America in the near future.
South Park Season 29 will premiere on September 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT
on Comedy Central.
