This is a multiday catch up. I recently watched:


Kraven the Hunter (Netflix) 2024 movie set in Sony's Spider-Man universe
that doesn't have Spider-Man in it. Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as
Kraven the Hunter, a Spider-Man villain known for hunting Spider-Man,
but since Spider-Man isn't in this movie he is now a hero known for
hunting bad guys. Whatever. The movie was actually better than I was anticipating. Being a solid "R" helped since I went in expecting
milquetoast PG-13 flick. I got an OK comic book action movie instead.
Sure, you have to turn your brain all the way off. But if you're
watching a movie set in the Spider-Man universe that doesn't have
Spider-Man in it, your brain has no business being on in the first place.


Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Paramount+) - "The Griffin Incident" - In
a rare horror episode Kirk, Spock and La'An board a lost Starship and
quickly find themselves in an X-Files episode. Or at least it felt like
this was a backdoor pilot for an X-Files style spinoff series since they
made multiple references to "Division 12" which investigates strange occurrences. This was actually a pretty good one, and the first time I
have seen an acknowledgement of Kirk's son David before the events of
"Wrath of Khan." But given David's age, he would have already been
alive and on Kirk's mind during TOS.


Silo (AppleTV+) - "Memory" - Season 3, episode 5. - Finally, some
answers are slowly dripped out after stringing us along for the first 4 episodes with this ridiculous amnesia nonsense.


Spider-Man: Brand New Day (theatrical) Latest entry in the Tom Holland
era MCU Spider-Man movies. Picking up where the last one ended,
Spider-Man has been forced to become a comic accurate down on his luck friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. In what I think is a first for a
Spider-Man movie this one feels very much like a comic or animated show
with Spider-Man just doing his thing while trying to get by. And thanks
to being set in the MCU he gets to hang out with The Punisher and fight
The Incredible Hulk. Not the smart Hulk we've been saddled with since
"End Game" but the savage Hulk we haven't seen since "Infinity War." We
even got to see Punisher fight the Hulk. Well, obviously not much of a
fight, but it was sure fun seeing Punisher give it a go! I'm not going
to get into the actual plot of the movie. I will just say this was an excellent entry, and I loved seeing the dynamics of watching everyone's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man struggle with the consequences of the
last movie while trying to save the day.

I had a rare treat. FREDnly TV suggested I watch Hawaii Five-0 (the real
show not the remake abomination). I accepted and the episode it threw at me
was the one with Patti Duke at her most evil. But the treat part was it?s
the one of the ones they filmed at the Kuilima hotel that my dad built. Somewhere around here I have a 16 mm print of it; I hadn?t seen it in
decades. I got to sit there, pointing at the TV and saying to myself ?I?ve
been there? in fact I?ve flown possibly in that same helicopter from the
top of the Ilikai hotel to the North Shore same as they did.

Also FREDnly offered me the Disney Zorro from grit.

The Amazon suggested I watch a show about a knight (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms?) that turned out to be a prequel to Game of Thrones, which was
mostly interested in showing the guys bare buttocks. After two episodes it switched over to some other Game of Thrones spinoff (House of the Dragon?)
that actually had Matt Smith and a dragon.
