Wonder Man Season 2 Canceled at Disney+,
But There's Good News for MCU Fans

Despite receiving critical acclaim, Wonder Man Season 2 has reportedly
been canceled. The Disney+ spin-off series was renewed for a second
season in March, but it appears Marvel Studios has reversed that
decision. Wonder Man Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, teasing more
adventures for Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's Simon Williams and
Ben Kingsley's Trevor Slattery.

The news comes from Variety, whose sources claim Marvel Studios never
opened a writers' room for Season 2 and released the writers from the
project. The series also earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for
Abdul-Mateen II, who delivered a great performance as the lead actor.

Wonder Man Season 2's Disney+ cancellation does have a silver lining
Although the series has been canceled, there's still hope for its
characters. According to the report, the characters featured in Wonder
Man can still appear in future Marvel projects. The situation appears
to be similar to how Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan was featured in
The Marvels after debuting in Ms. Marvel. More immediately, Jon
Bernthal's Punisher will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Moreover, Avengers: Doomsday will also feature Wyatt Russell as U.S.
Agent, who debuted in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Wonder Man was created by Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton,
along with Andrew Guest. The eight-episode series was the third MCU
show on Disney+ to be renewed after its debut season, following Loki
and Daredevil: Born Again. The series appeared in the Nielsen
streaming charts the week of January 26, following its debut. Disney
released all 8 episodes of the show simultaneously on its streaming
service.

In an interview earlier this month, Cretton said he hoped to direct
episodes of Wonder Man Season 2 later this year. It remains to be
seen when and where Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man, will make an
appearance in the MCU.
