This is a Stephen King novella, one of the four he wrote under the pseudonym >Richard Bachman, and the second that's been made into a movie, the other being >THE RUNNING MAN.
The film is quite faithful in its adaptation but doesn't have anywhere near >the depth of the book, since so much of the horror of the situation is >experienced in the characters' heads and you don't get that in a movie.
