• The UK's New Social Media Ban for Minors Has One Curious Exception

From BTR1701@3:633/10 to All on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 20:17:20
Keir Starmer's list of social media platforms that will be blocked for minors has been released:

    - TikTok
    - YouTube
    - Snapchat
    - Instagram
    - X (formerly Twitter)
    - Reddit
    - Facebook
    - Twitch
    - Kick
    - Threads

There's one major social media site that has been glaringly left off the
    list:

Bluesky, the social media site dedicated to Leftist and 'progressive'
    politics.

This ban is allegedly being implemented in the name of protecting the children from harmful material. Why, then, is Bluesky excepted? The hard numbers show that Bluesky has had more problems with grooming and child porn than every other platform on the list except Kick and Reddit.

Starmer's government has so far refused to address why the only social media they will allow minors to consume is one where the joys of communism and mass migration infuse almost ever post.

Despite the moviePigs of the world, every U.S. citizen should get down on
their knees and thank whatever they hold dear for the 1st Amendment or this is the type of shit they'd be forcing on us as well.

Pornhub lost the age verification lawsuit. I forgot what state. Various
states have already implemented underage social media bans. I'm not sure
a federal court will strike any of it down.

I already run into age-verification crap on YouTube with no clue what
triggers it, but I have not yet jumped through Google's hoops to upload documentation.

By leaving any platform off the list, the government would essentially drive all traffic to it. If I'm 16 and my only social media option is Bluesky, guess where me and all my friends are going?

Lunatic Americans are mainly the ones posting all the shit on "Social

I'm calling it judicial activism, given the lack of an obscenity
exception. I don't know of an obscenity exception in any state's speech
clause in its constitution either but I haven't done a thorough review.

As you've pointed out, snomolies occur because age of majority varies
from statute to statute. Age of consent may be age 16 but
exploitation of a minor in a nude still photograph or video is under age
    18. We know of the girl who sent a nude selfie video to who boyfriend
who exploited a minor -- herself -- and was charged, somehow superior to
her freedom of the press liberty in the First Amendment. I never read if
the judge actually allowed the case to be tried. She was facing
    registration as a sex offender!

The other problem, which you pointed out in this very thread, is privacy
if the state requires proof of identity in order to "protect the
    children" from exploitation and obscenity.

Also, it's not safe for me to be exposed to anything moviePig means at

When YouTube broke uBlock Origin, I switched to AdNauseum extension in
Firefox. Between extensions, the ad breaks were random and often every 4 minutes. I don't see how anyone would put up with it. I will watch ads
but not unreasonable crap like that.
