The latest rumour is that Russell T Davies is no longer involved in
"Doctor Who", and it sounds like he has gone even loonier. He also says
a press release about the show is coming in the next week or two.
ÿÿ Is Russell T Davies Out Of Doctor Who?
ÿÿ BBC Clash Fuels Exit Speculation
ÿÿ --------------------------------------
ÿÿ Russell T Davies has sparked fresh questions about whether he has
ÿÿ already left Doctor Who after interviews linked his BBC dispute
ÿÿ over X directly to the sci-fi series.
ÿÿ Davies, who returned as Doctor Who showrunner in 2021, previously
ÿÿ revealed that he had recently run into "very big problems" at the
ÿÿ BBC.
ÿÿ Speaking to HuffPost UK, Davies said he had "refused to be part
ÿÿ of any press release that went on Twitter".
ÿÿ "I said, I'm taking my name off anything [that goes on Twitter/X],"
ÿÿ he said, arguing that "there is no way a publicly-funded
ÿÿ corporation should be posting on a hate site".
ÿÿ At the time, Davies did not specifically say the dispute related
ÿÿ to Doctor Who. But a new interview with The i Paper now appears to
ÿÿ make that connection explicit.
ÿÿ The publication reported that Davies "hates the way the online
ÿÿ conversation has spun out of control so much that when he worked
ÿÿ with the BBC on Doctor Who, he demanded that they stop publicising
ÿÿ the show on X".
ÿÿ That wording is potentially notable for two reasons. First, it
ÿÿ appears to connect his "very big problems" at the BBC to Doctor
ÿÿ Who's publicity strategy. Second, it refers to his time on the
ÿÿ programme in the past tense.
ÿÿ The phrasing comes at a time when the future of the show, and
ÿÿ Davies' place in it, remains unclear.
ÿÿ Davies told The i Paper: "It's a public service broadcaster
ÿÿ posting on a hate platform."
ÿÿ He added: "It's not the town square it pretends to be. It's a
ÿÿ privately owned hate platform, owned by a megalomaniac [Elon Musk]
ÿÿ who is pushing ill on many of us."
ÿÿ Speculation has also been fuelled by Davies' recent comments on
ÿÿ the Full Disclosure podcast with James O'Brien. Asked what he was
ÿÿ doing next, he replied: "I don't actually know..."
ÿÿ He mentioned a 2027 stage version of It's A Sin, then added: "I'm
ÿÿ kind of not rushing to write the next thing... I won't be back
ÿÿ filming anything until next year, really."
ÿÿ That comment is striking because Doctor Who's previously
ÿÿ announced Christmas special would need to film this year if it
ÿÿ were to air in December 2026.
ÿÿ A recent report claimed the festive special is in doubt, with the
ÿÿ show reportedly struggling to lock down an actor to play the
ÿÿ Doctor.
ÿÿ Davies has, however, insisted that an announcement is coming.
ÿÿ Speaking on The Radio 2 Breakfast Show, he said there was "a press
ÿÿ release lumbering through the BBC" and promised "some sort of press
ÿÿ release" in "about a week or two weeks".
ÿÿ That suggests Davies remains close enough to the process to know
ÿÿ an announcement is being prepared. But it does not confirm whether
ÿÿ he will continue as showrunner beyond a Christmas special that may
ÿÿ or may not be happening...

Sounds like he hates Elon Musk.
Perhaps RTD still believes he's the golden boy who can demand anything
he wants, including that the BBC repudiate Musk and all Musk's works. If
so, I think he's wrong. He's much less valuable now than when they
wanted him back, and the BBC ditching X is unlikely to happen.

This tells me that he's gotten a little out of touch.
There are people who hate Musk, but RTD's going much too hard for a
public figure. "Megalomaniac with a hate platform" is what we expect to
see in the crannies of Reddit, not quoted in the press.

It's more to do with Muskrat buying Twitter, and then allowing all the previously banned loonies back onto the service (e.g. gay bashers,
white supremisists, Trump, etc.) turning it into a cesspit of lies and verbal abuse.

As if it wasn't a cesspit of lies and verbal abuse before he bought it. The only thing he changed was the two-tier enforcement of the rules based on the political beliefs of the offender that the previous management had established.
