New Star Trek Movie Gets Timeline Details
    Months After Part 4's Cancellation
    -----------------------------------------
Star Trek's next movie just dropped a major clue about when it's set,
and it changes everything fans expected. Directors Jonathan Goldstein
and John Francis Daley revealed the first official timeline details
for the upcoming Star Trek film months after Paramount canceled
    Part 4.

New Star Trek movie and timeline announced at Comic Con
Directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley shared the first
official details about the next Star Trek movie at San Diego
Comic-Con, as ScreenRant reported. The duo confirmed the script is
currently in progress. Daley stated, "We're very excited about it.
I think people will be surprised."

The film will notably feature an entirely new cast of characters.
Previous Star Trek movies either reunited original casts or recast
iconic roles. Goldstein explained, "It won't be the characters that
you've seen previously in your Star Trek movies. So there will be a
new take on that." He also revealed the film will move the timeline
    forward.

Goldstein added, "I think it'll probably be a little further into the
future than we've been before." This detail raises questions about
which Star Trek timeline the movie will inhabit. The franchise
currently spans two realities: the Prime timeline and the alternate
    Kelvin timeline.

Star Trek's Prime timeline extends to the 32nd century through
Discovery and Starfleet Academy. Meanwhile, the Kelvin timeline only
reached 2263 in Star Trek Beyond. Paramount Skydance has reportedly
aimed for a "holistic" approach to reunite its TV and film divisions.

The filmmaking duo previously directed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor
Among Thieves together. They also co-wrote Spider-Man: Homecoming and
directed the comedy Game Night. Paramount Skydance announced the new
Star Trek film at CinemaCon 2026 earlier this year.

CEO David Ellison named Star Trek as a crown jewel property for the
studio's future. The franchise has released at least one theatrical
film every decade since 1979. Paramount Skydance now has four years
left to maintain that streak. Every Alex Kurtzman-produced
Star Trek TV series has been canceled, with no new shows currently in
    development.

Nobody wants the silly reboots of *ANY* franchise. They're all dismal
    garbage. :-(

The problem is there is almost no person left in Hollywerrtid ewith
actual creative talent any more. All they can do is ruin someone else's
    hard work.
